More Insurance Developments in Florida
Florida is expected to take over another insurer in the Poe Financial Group.
Last week, a circuit judge in Tallahassee ordered a Poe subsidiary, Southern Family Insurance Co., to be placed in "rehabilitation" and taken over by the Florida Department of Financial Services.
Now a second division of insolvent Poe Financial Group is expected to be ordered into receivership. Atlantic Preferred Insurance Co. will likely be taken over by the Florida Department of Financial Services for failing to meet the state's capital and surplus requirements. Atlantic Preferred insures about 140,000 Florida homeowners.
Some of the Unit Owners at Pelican Pointe have used members of the Poe Gtoup for their insurance.
