THIS MONDAY, MAY28, 2012, THERE WAS AN ARTICLE
IN THE PRESS JOURNAL
ENTITLED "MEADOWS OF SEAGRASS IMPORTANT TO
INDIAN RIVER LAGOON."
THIS IS WRITTEN BY JAMES KIRLEY OF THE SCRIPPS STAFF AND RECOUNTS AN INTERVIEW WITH SHERRY REED, A RESEARCH SPECIALIST AND DIVE SAFETY OFFICER AT THE SMITHSONIAN MARINE STATION IN FORT PIERCE. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT OUR CONCERNED IRC TAXPAYERS TEAM HAS BEEN DISTURBED ABOUT IS THE LACK OF
ADEQUATE STUDIES BY FIND OF SEAGRASSES IN THE LAGOON IN THE AREA WHERE THE SEDIMENT PIPING WILL LEAD INTO THE DMMA SITE AND THE AREA WHERE THE PIPING TO RETURN
THE WATER THAT HAS RISEN TO THE TOP AS THE SEDIMENT SETTLES OUT OVER TIME.
