ROY A. JACOBS OF MARINA DRIVE PASSED
AWAY ON JULY 7, 2010.
ROY PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY WITH HIS WIFE KATHY AND HIS SON BY HIS SIDE, FROM COMPLICATIONS OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, WHILE AT THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION HOSPITAL IN BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS.
HE WAS BORN IN CALAIS. MAINE OM MAY 31, 1922 TO ESTELLE (BOLES) AND ROY T. JACOBS.
ROY JOINED THE ARMY AIR CORPS AND BECAME A PILOT DURING WORLD WAR II. HE FLEW FOR THE AIR FORCE ON ACTIVE DUTY TOURS IN EUROPE, ASIA AND THE KOREAN WAR. HE WAS CHOSEN TO FLY IN THE PRESIDENTIAL POOL FOR PRESIDENT EISENHOWER. HE FLEW THE FIRST LOCKHEED CONSTELLATION INTO OTIS AIR FORCE BASE AND EVENTUALLY RETIRED FROM OTIS IN 1964.
FOLLOWING HIS RETURN TO CIVILIAN LIFE, ROY BECAME A COMMERCIAL PILOT FOR NORTHEAST AIRLINES AND DELTA AIRLINES WHERE HE RETIRED IN 1982.
VISITING HOURS WERE HELD AT THE JOHN-LAWRENCE FUNERAL HOME IN MARSTONS MILLS, MA. ON SATURDAY JULY 10, 2010. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS DONATIONS TO HIS MEMORY MAY BE MADE
TO A CHARITY OF ONES CHOICE. THE BURIAL WAS PRIVATE.
